I’m back

I’ve let the blog lie fallow for a while, mostly due to lack of inspiration, and illness. I’m going to try and write a bit on a semiregular basis for a while, and see what that brings. The new image on the header photo is Align, by Type A, an artists collective, installed in the 100 Acres art/nature park in Indianapolis. (I highly recommend visiting there, it’s a great experience!)

New blog

I’ve put a new, more serious photography related blog up at http://www.philjernphotos.com

Please feel free to visit me there, as well. It’s far more dedicated to the art and practice of photography, and I’m putting how-to and practical articles there.

Mammy’s Cupboard. Just south of Natchez, MS on US 61, the sight of this looming out of the early morning fog caused me to nearly break my neck snapping around to get a better look. I actually went back to get a picture- too bad it was closed.

A single reason

On my way out the door this morning, my six-year-old granddaughter asked me if I was going to vote. I told her “Yes” and she rushed me, saying “You have to vote for BarackObama for meeeeeee!”

I thought about that a lot. I’m of the age where voting really doesn’t mean much for my future anymore- there isn’t all that much left of it. But for hers? Hell Yes.

I voted for her future today. I voted for the America I want to believe in, the one I’ve thought I believed in most of my life. It would be nice to live the rest of my life with some of the cynicism washed away.
