I read today that the next-to-last survivor of the sinking of the Titanic passed on October 16th, leaving Millvina Dean , 95, as the sole remaining person who was on the voyage alive today. It’s strange to realize that something that seems so remote to us in the modern world still has a living connection, and this little piece of history will, too soon, pass from living memory, embalmed into textbooks and encyclopediae forever more.
